What a surprise it was to discover this film review as I began to explore this website for the first time. I was an avid reader as a youth and somehow stumbled across the Jalna series. I was hooked after the first one and read every volume that my Centennial Library in Red Deer offered. I always thought I was a bit strange to be reading novels like this as a young male teen. After reading this review, I have a new curiosity for what attracted me to this series. Thanks Ron for validating the works of this author for me after all of these years!

This review also gave me the opportunity to reflect on a book I read last year: Kicking at the Darkness: Bruce Cockburn and the Christian Imagination. I enjoyed the book but wondered if I would have enjoyed it more if more details on the life of Bruce Cockburn were offered. Yet your review gave me new appreciation for having been possibly been spared the hazards of the "personal heresy" of this gifted musician and lyricist.
