In so many areas of discussion (faith, politics, diet, exercise, etc.), we tend to focus on the ways we disagree with others and fight over those disagreements.

Imagine how much better things would be if we focused on the areas where we agree and move forward slowly and respectfully to find ways to work around areas of disagreement.

Thought provoking for sure. I walked away from organized church about a month or two ago, but not from Jesus. I just don't know what church is supposed to look like post colonization, post homophobia, post xenophobia, post the Moral majority mingling of politics and religion, and post the over-generalizations of my Word of Faith background. I also don't totally fit with the progressive crowd, so I'm torn.
