WAYNE NORTHEY, Canada's conscience for restorative justice, is at it again, with his regular probes and provocations! Do visit the following four links for his reflections and commentary:
How did a small town in Canada become one of the hottest places on Earth?
This article discusses the backstory to the heatwave that hit Lytton, BC, a primarily First Nations village of 250 that has since gone up in flames. Tragically, it was also the site of one of Canada's infamous residential schools, where across Canada, so many children were abused, died, and were buried in unmarked graves. Speaking of which...
The Catholic Church must come clean—completely—about what it did to Native Americans
As Wayne says, "Yes, that we non-aboriginals living downstream from all these events, to this very moment, are beneficiaries, every last one of us raised with ill-gotten privilege. Yes, that we settler Canadians need collectively to atone. Yes, that we other religious groups created no outcry throughout this genocidal horror. Yes, that we settler Canadians cannot celebrate 'Canada' with a clear conscience–ever (again)!"
Pope Francis is not a liberal! (He’s not a conservative either.)
Speaking of the Catholic Church, Wayne also responds to an article by James T. Keane, which says, "Pope Francis is not a liberal! He is not a conservative either. In fact, like most of his predecessors (and many of his brother bishops), Pope Francis does not land coherently anywhere on the axes of American politics. And we should be happy about that."
And finally, a piece about the track record of global calamity left in the wake of Neo-Con politician Donald Rumsfeld, whose career climaxed and ended during the George W. Bush regime. With the chaos and strange indignities of the Trump era, Wayne reminds us of the cost of the Cheney-Rumsfeld-Wolfowitz doctrine of global domination.
