The glint of the sun;

Warms the soul.

From the cold draft;

That seeps thru pores;

From the darkened hills.

A black tide of struggle;

Lingering like a plague;

From crest to crest;

Seen by eyes of this world;

As an undefeatable enemy

"Easy boy", I speak to the heart;

As it purrs with slight fear.

"One last ride I promise";

A known lie that travels like Soothness;

Serenity within a world of disturbance.

Like a fish in deep water;

Smooth below the violent surface.

We ride together Heart, Soul, and Body.

Oh how often we have rode this ride!

1000 and 1 times we led this charge…

That battered armor still holds strong,

That splintered lance still is sharp,

That wounded spirit still is alive,

That dejected heart still holds hope,

This world of unbelief still holds this believer…

The warmth of God's Hand;

Takes the last of doubt.

And you stand – light upon light;

From head to toe facing Darkness.

When the Sh*t Stink Lingers – Felicia Murrell

At some point in my life, I came to the realization that I don’t like being around people who once made me feel like sh*t. Even if I was the one creating the narrative about what I thought they thought about me. It doesn’t make being around these people any easier....

A Holy Joke – Mark 9 – Martin Little

9/11 was a test – Wayne Northey

Below are excerpts from an outstanding essay by a Pulitzer Prize winner for criticism in 2019. But the last lines, though intended to be hopeful, ring perversely hollow–especially given what one can read on this website about the horrors of American...

Alternative or Adversary? Eric Janzen

Alternative or Adversary? Around the world, tension seems to be at a boil. The globe suffers from pandemic blues, armed conflicts, a mountain of injustices, poverty, and the terrible discoveries of innocent lives lost. Whether understood or not there is a damaged and...

Praying to the God of Vengeance – Derek Vreeland

Praying to the God of Vengeance   We have a tradition at our church, following Brian Zahnd's morning prayer liturgy, of praying the psalm for the day that corresponds with the day of the year. Yesterday was day 244 so we were praying Psalm 94....
