Brilliant. Thank you so much for a real map and means to move toward embracing the good/beautiful and making our way towards the heart of our true selves. Awaiting more.
    Sincere thanks and blessings.

Thank you for this important information on this pre-modern {contemplative} tradition. Woking in the creation of modernity, the prison for nearly 21 years, I recognize the importance of the perspectives of spiritual direction and inner mindfullness and watchfulness; I also find helpful perspectives in Buddhist tradtions. To have deeply rooted christian traditions is good, giving balance to much evangelical theology that has taken shape during modernity. Important to me though, working with those often cast out from the parish and those deemed undeserving by society, is the need to be equally concerned with all the social injustice (neo-liberal responsibilism)and oppressive social conditions that act as pathways to “anomie” and crime. The desert meditation room may not become an escape for, as Ron put it elsewhere, getting in that stressful ship of state ” to work for the common good. I would say that this inner work is precisely what we need to serve with vision and vigour on that ship. Shalom.
